RELIGION : DEITIES

Throughout all of Nym's Eye, in its many worlds and planes, are beings we describe as gods. These are beings who are so powerful, with such control over their given domains and the fabrics of our world, that they could only be gods and godlike, and nothing else.

There are many deities in Nym; from the well-known Creators, to the ancient Worldgods, to powerful spirits, and to arisen deities, and so forth. There are potentially thousands of godlike creatures in Nym, though most of them are quite limited in their power, or they're considered so lesser that they are like ants to the greater gods of Nym's Eye.

Obscure tribes or isolated cults might worship smaller deities, whose power isn't to be underestimated still, but they're not as great as those we consider the major deities. Such grand beings are powerful, and powered further with rich Aether supplied by loyal, mortal worship.

As many gods as there are, there are just as many purposes. The Creators focus on working on maintaining the many facets and domains that hold Nym's Eye together, and the Worldgods remain as staunch allies to the spirits and nature, and the Eldritch Gods are ever mysterious in their motives as they seek to drain Aether from the world and feed themselves. For every god, there is a wish, a purpose, or a duty.

There is a saying that says that whenever a mortal prays a new prayer, a new god is born to answer them. While unlikely to be true, there's no denying that it is at least likely that one god out there can hear their prayers, and even find a desire to answer them.
